"Come home!" : this was the appeal launched "from the bottom of his heart" by Eric Ciotti, during his political comeback , Sunday August 31 in Levens, to his "Republican friends". Understand: join the Union of the Right for the Republic, his party, allied with the National Rally.
On Saturday, September 6, the Alpes-Maritimes MP and candidate for mayor of Nice in the March 2026 municipal elections shifted into high gear, launching a "bridge membership" aimed at members of the Republicans who, "faced with the betrayals" of the latter, would be tempted to "leave the Macronist Titanic."
"The Republicans are going through a profound crisis. Without a clear line, without courage, they are drifting further to the left every day after having fallen into the orbit of Macronism. After having rejected the Union of the Right and disappointed so many French people, they are now considering supporting a socialist government – thus betraying the heritage and values of the right," the party argued in a press release.
Before delivering a powerful argument to help people take the plunge: a massive promotion.
"The right deserves better than confusion, compromise, and denial. Until September 30, we are offering you political asylum for €1," the party urges on its X account. This special operation was launched two days before the vote of confidence in the government in the National Assembly on Monday, September 8, which should, barring any major twists and turns, see the fall of Prime Minister François Bayrou. And thus possibly lead to early legislative elections.
