Chemical Submission: Senator Joël Guerriau Targeted by New Testimony

A new woman claims that Joël Guerriau "abused" her after an evening spent at the Loire-Atlantique senator's Parisian home in May 2022. The latter continues to deny the facts.

Senator Joël Guerriau, suspected of having drugged MP Sandrine Josso in November 2023 in order to commit a sexual assault , is the subject of new testimony against him, relayed Thursday by the program Complément d'enquête on France 2.

In its investigation into the behind-the-scenes workings of the Senate, part of which the channel revealed on social media, France 2 returns to the case which led the public prosecutor to request a trial in April against the senator, suspected of having drugged his fellow MP without her knowledge during a party in his Parisian apartment, which he denies having done voluntarily , claiming in particular to have been a "handling error".

The report broadcast on Thursday evening notably relays the testimony of a woman speaking on camera but with her face covered, with the sound of her voice modified.

She claims that Joël Guerriau allegedly "abused" her after an evening spent at the Loire-Atlantique senator's Parisian home in May 2022. She says she felt "dizzy," then came to her senses in the senator's room, whom she knew from political circles and with whom she allegedly had a legal dispute.

"I decided to bury it deep inside me," she said, explaining that she had a turning point when she heard about the November 2023 case. The Complément d'enquête team claims that the woman contacted investigators to testify but has not yet filed a complaint.

Asked by the program, the senator's lawyer indicated that Guerriau "denies ( with ) the greatest firmness these new rumors", describing them as "extravagances whose sole objective is to lead Joël Guerriau to the scaffold of public opinion".

Since his indictment, the parliamentarian, placed under judicial supervision, had been suspended from his party Horizons and from his parliamentary group Les Indépendants-République et Territoires.

He had indicated that he wanted to "preserve the serenity" of the Senate by "withdrawing from participation in parliamentary work" , but had ruled out resigning, considering it "totally unfair" to leave his post in September 2024 when the courts had not yet "ruled".
