The commune of Roquebrune wants to be recognized as a tourist resort

The fact that the town of Roquebrune is a tourist destination is a fact. But to officially become a "tourist resort" , proof must – unsurprisingly – be provided. Roquebrune is therefore preparing to initiate a classification application procedure. The town has no shortage of assets to hope for this achievement: it has been recognized as a climatic resort since 1992; has a particularly rich architectural, historical and natural heritage; and can pride itself on being a city of leisure and sport.

Better still: Roquebrune already meets all the required criteria: quality of welcome, tourist accommodation, public facilities, local services, actions in favor of the environment and the living environment...

Keep the tourist tax

The benefits that the city could derive from such a classification? They are numerous, assures the director general of services, Rémi Moreau. He cites the possibility of "recovering tourism jurisdiction," currently in the hands of the community tourism office. But also of requesting demographic upgrading. "A higher demographic stratum would provide other advantages, including stronger discussions with the State, particularly regarding the presence of police forces in the territory."

"The beach concession would also increase from six to eight months," adds the first deputy, Jean-Louis Dedieu.

On the opposition bench, Guillaume Contesse is beaming. "One of the other big advantages is that this allows us to keep the tourist tax! Our group is delighted that we can be in control of our affairs and our financing."
