Among the nearly 44 billion euros of budgetary savings planned in his draft budget for 2026, the Prime Minister proposed some measures last July to tax the highest incomes, "those who optimize their taxation."
And while they have not caught the attention of the general public, François Bayrou brandished them as a bargaining chip this Tuesday in an attempt to save his position ten days before the vote of confidence in the deputies . "When your resources are greater, your contribution to the recovery of public finances must be too," he chanted before assuring that he wanted to demand a "specific effort" from the most well-off.
