Social plan, burnout, silence from management: at Thales Alenia Space, profit takes precedence over employee health

Increased psychosocial risks, lack of support and recognition, professional burnout... A new expert report highlights the harmful effects of the "social" plan implemented by Thales's space branch. The CGT (General Confederation of Labor) has taken management to court, with a hearing scheduled for September 15.
One summer evening, Philip I returned home, exhausted, and said to his wife: "It's over, they've had me." Behind these words, the brutality of a so-called social plan of which he was a victim. His wife, worried, immediately alerted the unions.
This type of reporting is becoming increasingly frequent, to the point that the CGT is taking the management of Thales Alenia Space (TAS) to court, which is due to rule on September 15, for breaching the obligation of prevention and endangering the health of employees.
Already on May 26, the company psychologist warned of "a high, even very high, risk of suicide" among some of the employees being monitored. Since September 2024, the French satellite manufacturer has been implementing an active employment management agreement (GAE), presented as a "social" alternative to layoffs and which the inter-union immediately opposed, deeming it "unjustified and deadly."
