Nuclear waste: Cigéo increases its bill for the Bure site

The planned radioactive waste disposal site in Bure (Meuse) could cost between 26 and 37 billion euros, the French National Agency for Nuclear Waste Management (Andra) announced on Monday, May 12. However, these estimates remain very relative for a project expected to last until around 2170.
The long-running saga of Cigéo, the deep geological storage project for nuclear waste planned for Bure (Meuse), has just been enriched with a new episode. Its operator, the French National Agency for Nuclear Waste Management (Andra), published an updated version of the costs on Monday, May 12. The range is between €26.1 billion and €37.5 billion. The last estimate, which was drawn up in 2016 , mentioned €25 billion.
