Life insurance: a popular investment

Rarely have the French invested so much money in their life insurance , with more than 4 billion euros at the end of March, a first in 15 years at this time of year. François Krepelle took out several life insurance policies a year ago with a very attractive rate of return: 5% for the first two years. For him, it's a way to protect his children. "It's an investment that remains interesting, especially if you consider that you don't want to use it and that it's invested for the long term," he explains.

On average, insurers offer a return of around 2.5%, as much as, or even more than, some savings accounts. At a bank in the Paris region, customers are now investing more of their money in life insurance. “In April 2024, our customers entrusted us with +8% of their deposit in our life insurance policies,” observes the bank branch manager.
