This is a new episode in the conflict between the WEF Foundation Board and former president and founder of the Davos Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab. While an investigation has been opened against him for embezzlement and abuse of power, Klaus Schwab is proposing that the WEF appoint him honorary president, according to the SonntagsZeitung.

A proposal in the form of a compromise. Because Klaus Schwab, who announced his immediate resignation on April 21 , continues to dispute the accusations against him. As a result, he says he is ready to accept and publish the findings of the Homburger investigation. And if reform is necessary, it will be implemented. In return, he demands that the investigation be limited to the recent accusations and that it be completed within one year.

Meanwhile, Peter Brabeck would remain interim president, while Klaus Schwab would become honorary president, according to his scenario. This is to maintain the WEF's international reputation. In addition, he would like to bring Donald Trump back to Davos, as he did in 2018 and 2020.

If the WEF rejects his proposal, a legal dispute could ensue, according to the SonntagsZeitung. Klaus Schwab is claiming claims worth several million francs, which he could pursue in court.

He is convinced that he has forfeited over the years a sum of approximately 8 million euros that was allegedly awarded to him based on a decision of the board of directors, explains the "NZZ am Sonntag." However, the WEF is reportedly refusing to pay him any compensation after the fact. Klaus Schwab received "market-compliant remuneration," he says.

The WEF receives 2.55 million francs annually from the Swiss Confederation to cover its security costs. This sum is now being slashed by Green Party leader Lisa Mazzone. "The WEF is an undemocratic gathering of the ultra-rich, where the Trumps, Bolsonaros, and Mileis of this world are applauded. Klaus Schwab earns a salary worth millions. It is unacceptable that citizens have to subsidize this with their taxes," she declared in "SonntagsBlick." The Greens will therefore submit a motion in Parliament to use this money to finance a conference on multilateralism at the Bürgenstock, to reflect on the future of international cooperation.
