Haute-Saône. Pond, games, hikes: head to the Saline leisure center in Lure

The Saline leisure center is located on the site of a former sandpit. A children's playground was built in 2002. The official opening in 2003 was a resounding success, with attendance steadily increasing ever since. To meet demand, a catering building and a water sports center were built in 2016. Today, La Saline welcomes a diverse audience. "The Saline leisure center is accessible to everyone, but it's true that we generally find families," explains Marjorie Marshal, site manager. "Sometimes we come with the children, but we also come after shopping to enjoy the area, like today," says Jocelyne Petitjean, who came with her husband from a small village near Isle-sur-le-Doubs.

During the summer, La Saline offers water sports equipment rentals: canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, pedal boats, fun boats, and even giant paddleboards. Supervised activities, such as paddleboard fitness, archery, and climbing, complete the offerings. "It's great here with the kids; we sometimes go pedal boating," smile Jean-Marie and Marie-Claire, originally from Moffans-et-Vacheresse. The site also includes playgrounds, a multi-sports field, a disc golf course, picnic areas, and hiking trails. "I love coming here with my family," adds their grandson, Martin. The site is open year-round, with an expanded summer entertainment program since 2012. Night markets and free concerts are also offered throughout the summer.
The base is integrated into a network of trails. The Onde trail connects the site to the Ognon bridge and the Vouhenans hill. It is also connected to the Voie Verte , a popular starting point for cyclists and cycle tourists. "We sometimes do the route by bike, it's pleasant, from our house it's barely 10 km," adds Jean-Marie. The Voie Verte is a track of more than 27 km that crosses 10 communes between Villersexel and Lure. "It's a beautiful site that extends over a large area, there are lots of things to do especially during the holidays with the various activities on offer," concludes the couple.
