Rural Coordination criticizes EU-Mercosur free trade agreement, denouncing a "planned betrayal" for French farmers

The Rural Coordination has described as a "programmed betrayal" the free trade agreement between the Latin American countries of Mercosur and the European Union , which the European Commission is calling on its member countries to approve.

"This is a betrayal, a planned betrayal ," Christian Convers, secretary general of the Rural Coordination, declared on RMC/BFM. "We are not fooled, we can clearly see that these things were planned," he said, stressing that "this will not strengthen the bond of trust that farmers have with their governments."
