Data analytics specialist NielsenIQ reveals the products most chosen by the French when shopping at the supermarket. And drinks are at the top.
Everyone has their own habits and favorite products on their shopping list. But certain products appeal to a large number of French people, year after year. Cristaline water, Ricard, and Coca-Cola have been at the top of the most purchased products in supermarkets since the beginning of 2025, according to the ranking carried out by NielsenIQ and revealed by consumer goods journalist Olivier Dauvers .
The trio has been unbeatable for several years: the three products were already at the top in 2024, 2023 , 2022 and also 2021.

More generally, the NielsenIQ ranking highlights "the extraordinary stranglehold of the liquids aisle on the charts," the specialist emphasizes. Among the 50 most purchased products in 2025 are 42 beverages.
Despite recent scandals surrounding the quality of bottled water , it continues to attract massive numbers of French people. Cristaline water appears twice in the ranking (6x1.5L and 12x50cl), for total sales of 242.3 million euros. Eight other brands of still or sparkling water also appear in the ranking: Volvic (5th position, 70 million euros), Evian (13th position, 55.8 million euros), Mont Roucous (14th, 53.9 million euros), San Pellegrino (17th, 52.1 million euros), Vittel (35th, 38.2 million euros), Hépar (37th, 37.7 million euros), La Salvetat (45th, 35.1 million euros) and Perrier (46th, 34.6 million euros).
Coca-Cola, the favorite brandWhile calls to boycott American products have multiplied since Donald Trump 's return to power in the United States in January, they haven't been enough to dethrone Coca-Cola as the French people's favorite brand. Six of the brand's products appear in the top 50 most-purchased supermarket products, including four in the top 10.

Alcoholic drinks are not left out, since 22 references (including several from the Heineken and Desperados brands) appear in the ranking.
Nutella in the top 10The only non-liquid product in the top 10 is the 1kg jar of Nutella spread (7th position). This was already the case for the whole of 2024, for a value of €126 million (€66 million in the first part of 2025). The brand also appears in 25th position for its 825g jar and 43rd for its 400g jar.

Outside of liquids, the French's favorite products are sometimes surprising. Sodebo's Manhattan salad (28th place, €40.9 million), the one-kilogram Plukon chicken fillet (33rd place, €38.5 million), and Catsan litter (34th, €38.2 million) appear in the ranking. More traditional products include Caprice des Dieux cheese, Président butter, and three 250g bags of Carte Noire.
