Colmar. Schoenenberger, a century of activity in construction

Schœnenberger, a Colmar-based roofing and carpentry company, has been covering buildings since 1925. A family business, it is run by the founders' three great-grandsons.

Before 1900, Charles's great-grandfather was a worker in a roofing company in Colmar. In 1925, the former owner sold his business to the Schœnenberger family. Unusually for the time, it was a woman, Henriette, Charles's wife, who, like a true businesswoman, took over the reins.

In the 1950s, another Charles, the couple's son, now 91, joined the company. "Our grandfather developed new techniques like bitumen-based waterproofing. We then became major waterproofing installers." The 1980s saw the arrival of a duo: Claude and Charles, father and uncle of the current triumvirate.

During the 2000s, the building envelope specialist moved from Rue des Vignes to Rue d'Altkirch in Colmar, where its headquarters are still located. This move allowed Schœnenberger to grow...
