Bayonne: Pottoka Eguna continues to put pottok in the spotlight

The small, wild, ancestral horse of the Basque mountains will be celebrated all day on Saturday, August 2
The fifth edition of Pottoka Eguna , organized by the National Pottok Association in partnership with the City of Bayonne, will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Roland-Barthes esplanade in Bayonne. The pottok is a small wild horse that helps maintain the mountain, a true treasure of the Basque Country.
This festive and family-friendly event on August 2 will be dedicated to Basque culture, nature, and tradition. It will welcome young and old alike for a day dedicated to the pottok, with national presentation competitions (model and gait) bringing together more than 60 fillies and mares, free rides (up to 12 years old), and activities to discover this breed in conjunction with breeders and enthusiasts. The Orai Bat association will offer mutxiko from 12:30 p.m. New this year, an inflatable structure will be offered for ages 3 to 8, with free access.
