Every year, during the grape harvest, many visitors and music and folklore groups came to taste r Nejer . In 1950, the idea of a big festival bringing together this joyful world around the new wine appeared. It was born on October 5, 1952 under the impetus of Émile Rieb (general secretary of the city), Georges Burgard (deputy to the mayor Paul Degermann), the tourist office and several companies.
2. A first live broadcast on the airwavesThe first Harvest Festival was broadcast live on Radio Strasbourg. Maurice Wingert, a true Barr memory, remembers being able to follow it from Paris, despite poor reception. There, people danced to the hymn to Barr's wines and S'Barrer Lied , “Barr's song,” which has almost been forgotten today.
