The Périgord Dronne Belle tourist office's favorites
The cloister, the church, the Cave of the Last Judgment bathed in the light of a hundred candles. This is one of the tours offered by the Périgord Dronne Belle tourist office. Having become a must-see over the years, this event is an opportunity, accompanied by a guide, to delve into Brantôme's rich past and discover its most beautiful features. Embark on a tour rich in information and discovery, the cherry on top, at nightfall, when temperatures are just beginning to drop. "It's not cold, but cool, it's ideal in summer," they say at the tourist office. Tours take place in groups (limited to 40 people), every Monday in July and August at 8:30 p.m.
Information and reservations are available at the tourist office, by phone at 05 53 05 80 63 or on site. Prices: €9.50 (full), €7 (reduced).
The Brantôme quarries, by the light of a torch
A torch, and that's it. This is how the Périgord Dronne Belle tourist office offers a tour of the Brantôme quarries. This tour, which was introduced last year in the office's program of activities, is an original way to discover the stone quarry. Once a troglodyte dwelling, it was a quarry in the last century, and the traces of those who worked there are still clearly visible. Lasting 1 hour 15 minutes, the tour is limited to 20 people. They will leave knowing everything there is to know about quarry workers. Bring a sweater: the temperature fluctuates between 12 and 13 degrees, a real breath of fresh air in prospect. Also wear closed-toe shoes.
For more information, contact the tourist office by phone at 05 53 05 80 63 or on site. Prices: 8.50 euros (full), 6.50 euros (reduced).
A path in the footsteps of the millstone workers
The Meulières interpretation trail begins in the commune of Saint-Crépin-de-Richemont. The trail starts at the Brageaux car park for an unusual hike among the millstones. Walking through the stone quarries, you'll discover this ancient industry of extracting millstones to grind grain. Guided tours take place every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August. "It takes a good two hours to walk around 2.8 kilometers, marked by explanatory signs. So wear closed-toe shoes," says the Périgord Dronne Belle tourist office.
