'May the Force be with you': White House posts AI-generated image of Trump as Jedi

The Trump administration has had fun portraying the US president as a warrior from the Star Wars universe and has attacked the "radical left lunatics who are fighting so hard to bring the Sith Lords back" to the United States.

A stern look, bulging muscles, an eagle symbolizing the USA, the whole epic and martial universe of Star Wars in the image of Donald Trump....Sunday, the White House shared on its social networks an image of the American president, generated by artificial intelligence, in the skin of a Jedi warrior from the Star Wars legend. Published on May 4, the photo is part of the international "Star Wars" day, a tradition maintained since 1977 by fans of the franchise following the release of Star Wars, episode IV: A New Hope .

In the image relayed by the White House, we see the President of the United States armed with a red lightsaber , often used by soldiers of the dark side of the force, but also a symbol of power, ambition, aggression, rage, hatred and the desire for control. Donald Trump is also depicted with a titanic musculature usually the prerogative of movie stars like Sylvester Stallone or Dwayne Johnson . Behind his serious air and his platinum blond haircut, we can also see two eagles and two American flags.

You are not the Rebellion, you are the Empire

Donald Trump on his political opponents

The post comes with a celebratory message, with the White House wishing Star Wars fans a "Happy May 4th." "Including the lunatics on the radical left who are fighting so hard to bring Sith Lords, assassins, drug lords, dangerous prisoners, and well-known members of the MS-13 gang back to our galaxy," the message continues. "You are not the Rebellion, you are the Empire." The Trump administration is thus comparing its political opponents to the great villains of the intergalactic universe.

The color of the lightsaber, however, has Internet users wondering. Red is, as explained previously, traditionally used by dark side villains, like Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, or Darth Maul. The forces of the "light" side mostly use blue or green sabers like Luke Skywalker or Yoda. "How come there isn't a geek on the team to tell you what color lightsaber is good and what color is bad?" asks one person on X. "A red lightsaber, you know those are the bad guys, right?" writes another. A final one puts it into perspective: "Red is literally one of the three colors of our nation's flag. He is the leader of the Republican Party, which is often attributed the color red. Context is important."

On X, the image received some 124,000 likes and 25,000 reactions. This isn't the first time the White House has shared an AI-generated photo of Donald Trump. On Saturday, it posted an image of the US president dressed as the Pope on its social media, just weeks after the death of Pope Francis on April 21.
