The images are as spectacular as the results appear limited. For the past week, several countries, including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, France, and the United Kingdom, have begun dropping humanitarian aid over the Gaza Strip using military aircraft flying over the Palestinian enclave.

Forty tons are expected to be parachuted by France during four drops, twelve tons by Spain, while other countries, such as Belgium, Italy and Germany, have declared their intention to participate or contribute.

"The emergency in the Gaza Strip is such that it is absolutely essential to be able to bring in basic necessities," a source at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs justified regarding the airdrops, acknowledging that these operations only "very imperfectly" respond to the scale of the needs. The Israeli army also announced that it had carried out food drops in the enclave where more than 60,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the war in response to the attack of October 7, 2023 by Hamas.
