Actor Gérard Chaillou, known in particular for his role in the comedy series Caméra Café , died at the age of 79, the M6 group announced on its X account on Sunday, August 3.

Gérard Chaillou was known to the general public for his role as Jean-Guy Lecointre, director of human resources for the fictional company Caméra Café (2001-2004). He also appeared on television in Scènes de ménages, Julie Lescaut, H, Joséphine ange gardien, Camping Paradis and several soap operas .

In addition to his supporting roles in film and television, Gérard Chaillou has done a lot of theater work. He was a resident of the Comédie Française between 1983 and 1985. In film, he notably appeared in Roman Polanski's J'accuse , where he played Georges Clemenceau, and Xavier Durringer's La Conquête , where he played Jean-Louis Debré.

On X, Yvan Le Bolloc'h, one of his partners in Caméra Café , praised an actor who "excelled in the roles of leader" and a "delicious" man, "extraordinarily cultured" , "as fine a mouth as not allowed" and "of a rare delicacy" .
