The hot springs with medicinal benefits hidden in a beautiful village near Almería

Sulfurous waters fill a small pool of about three cubic meters in Alboloduy. This very striking pool can be found along the Alcozayar path, a few kilometers from this village in the Alpujarra region of Almería. The Balsica Salobre is a small natural spring whose origin is due to the presence of gypsum formations in the subsoil, which enrich the water with a high sulfate content.

Since ancient times, local residents have valued this spring for both its natural beauty and its medicinal properties , attributing benefits to it for the treatment of skin conditions. The use of mineral waters for therapeutic purposes has been a common practice in many cultures, and this is no exception in the Alpujarra region of Almería.

Although there are no conclusive scientific studies on its effects, oral tradition has kept alive the belief in its healing properties, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors seeking a revitalizing dip in its waters. Balsica is a small natural lagoon with shallow waters high in mineral salts, especially sulfates, which gives its shores a characteristic whitish hue.

Its location, surrounded by gypsum geological formations, offers a unique landscape and an environment of great geological interest. From here, you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the municipality of Alboloduy and the nearby Gamonal Hill, making it a scenic attraction. Access is via a path that starts in the Alcozayar area, allowing visitors to enjoy a walk through the natural surroundings before reaching the spring.

Alboloduy is located on the right bank of the Nacimiento River, in a place surrounded by large rocks and hills that, together with the white terraced houses of Arab origin and the orchards, form a complex of great beauty, in which the Parish Church stands out.

If you decide to visit Alboloduy, one of the highlights is a visit to one of the wineries and their vineyards . It's a commitment to the future of a region based on sustainable development in the tourism and winemaking sectors, offering visitors a natural setting with spectacular contrasting landscapes, accompanied by a rich and varied cuisine based on Arabic cuisine and local wines bearing the Andalusian Natural Park label.
