If you're looking to improve your foreign language skills or simply learn English, this new development may generate a lot of interest. An institute in Colombia has opened free enrollment to strengthen your language skills. How can you get started with your classes?
The Bogotá Mayor's Office announced that the District Secretariat of Economic Development (SDDE), in conjunction with the Colombian-American Center, has launched the program called Yes, Bogotá. The goal is to offer free English training to provide citizens with the tools they need, given the high demand in sectors such as tourism, gastronomy, and BPO. Registration will be limited to a limited number of participants, and the goal is to deliver 3,800 certifications through December 2025.
Regarding this matter, María del Pilar López Uribe, District Secretary of Economic Development, said: "The program not only seeks to teach a second language, but also to connect participants with real employment opportunities. Therefore, it will include job fairs, vacancy identification workshops, talks led by companies in the sector, and interview referral processes, most of which will be conducted in English," she noted.
