For the first time, a Colombian model will participate in the Victoria's Secret fashion show.

Valentina Castro Rojas will be part of the select group participating in the official Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, one of the most recognized fashion events in the world. This makes her the first Colombian model to walk this iconic runway.

The young woman had previously expressed her excitement on social media at being invited to the casting call in New York City (USA). "I'm very excited, very happy, very content. Thank God, it's a huge opportunity... just being here, I'm very happy and grateful," she stated on Instagram.

The announcement of her participation was subsequently reported by specialized fashion profiles and replicated by the official Victoria's Secret account.

Her inclusion on the show is no surprise, as Castro has risen rapidly in the modeling industry since her foray into the industry a few years ago.

According to a profile published by BBC Mundo in 2023, just a year ago she was known in her Ciudadela neighborhood in Tumaco for her skill at braiding Afro hair. With this skill, which she performed at home or in her own house, she used to earn between $4 and $12 per hairstyle.

At the same time, she participated in several school parades and local pageants , where she stood out for her natural beauty, stage presence and height.

But it wasn't until 2018 that her life took a complete turn. At just 18 years old, the young woman was invited to walk the Louis Vuitton runway in Paris, France, marking the beginning of a career in international modeling.

Since then, she has worked for the French house, also appearing in editorial campaigns for magazines such as Harper's Bazaar and L'Officiel.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will stream at 7:00 p.m. ET on Prime Video, Amazon Live, and the brand's official networks.
