There are two types of people in the world: those who remain stationary on escalators, letting the machine do the work, and those who prefer to climb step by step. This type of behavior raises an important question: what is the correct way to ascend this escalator?

Although it may seem like a trivial matter, it isn't for the Chinese government. The country's authorities have launched a national campaign to encourage people to use this mechanism wisely.
The Asian giant insists that traveling by this means is "unsafe, uneconomical, and ineffective." That's why they've decided to offer a better and safer alternative.
The Chinese government points out that running or walking on escalators can be dangerous because the steps are often higher than those of a normal staircase. Furthermore, the speed of travel is sometimes very fast.

"All of this makes it easier for people to trip and fall, not to mention getting their clothes or belongings caught in the machine," they explain.
In fact, local media have quoted experts as saying that when there are people on only one side, the unbalanced distribution can damage the escalator over time. This, in turn, translates into more frequent maintenance and higher costs.
Along these lines, it's suggested that people sit on both sides of the machine, not only because this means better weight distribution, but also because more people can fit on the treadmill, especially during rush hour.
