Between cliffs and with an infinity pool: this is the new hotel in Andalusia that almost no one knows about.

Almuñécar and its smaller sister, La Herradura, are two privileged places and probably two of the best tourist destinations on Granada 's Costa Tropical. Many visitors from both here and abroad know and appreciate this. In winter, they are usually frequented by visitors from central and northern Europe, while in summer, they are more popular with domestic tourists.

And it's rare for anyone to leave disappointed because a combination of factors makes that very difficult. The weather is good almost year-round, with hardly any cold in winter and not too hot in summer; the food is good, the people are friendly, and the Mediterranean Sea is a backdrop in all its splendor. Those who want fun can enjoy it, but peace and quiet are also guaranteed for those who prefer it.

The hotel offering in the area is also growing and diversifying. Small hotels are opening with attention to detail, well-designed, and a departure from overcrowding. Among them, the Hyalma Cliff stands out, a hotel located on a cliff in La Herradura, offering views of the sea from almost every point.

It's a boutique hotel , a concept that defines establishments with a few rooms, each one unique. In this case, there are six double junior suites, and to distinguish them, each has a name: Xálima, Gaia, Deva, Selene, Aura, and Sedna.

Fully immersed in nature, you can savor the peace here. "Breathe the luxury of disconnection" is its motto, and every effort of the staff is focused on ensuring this. There are truly appreciated details, such as the infinity pool that makes you think you're bathing in the ever-present Mediterranean, or individual terraces in each room, which of course have a king-size bed, or a two-meter-wide bed, if you prefer.

There's a growing trend: adults-only hotels. There's already another one in Almuñécar , and the Hyalma Cliff also opts for that option. Children, who are undoubtedly adorable, enjoy more of the more lively spaces . The Hyalma Cliff is a place to rest, to delight in the views after a hearty breakfast, to spend the morning practicing the noble art of doing nothing, except perhaps a few laps in the pool.

Although it's also true that anyone looking for a bit of action can find it just steps away. La Herradura is a popular spot for diving enthusiasts from all over Spain, and just minutes from the hotel is the Marina del Este marina, the only one in the province of Granada, where there are several schools for beginners and more experienced divers who can rent equipment if they don't have it with them.

There are plenty of beaches nearby. The central beach of La Herradura, two kilometers long, is a sure bet. If you prefer coves, between Almuñécar and Nerja are the Maro cliffs , dotted with small inlets. The more difficult the access, the less crowded they will be.

The sea surrounds everything, as mentioned, but there are also many possibilities inland. La Herradura is just a stone's throw from the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara, and Alhama, a green lung full of very interesting trails. The Verde River, near Almuñécar, is highly valued by adventure sports enthusiasts. In short, there's no shortage of activities, nor of fine dining: the restaurant offering is extensive and varied, although fish and seafood clearly reign supreme, for obvious reasons of proximity.
