A night in Medellín with Karol G: Airbnb's new experience in its app updates
With a revamped app , Airbnb has launched new features ranging from booking services like a hair salon or a personal trainer to visiting Notre Dame with the architect who restored the cathedral.
This last function was called 'Original Experiences', which will include playing volleyball with Olympic athlete Carol Solberg on the emblematic Leblon beach in Rio de Janeiro and spending a night on a rooftop in Medellín with the Paisa artist Karol G.
This latest experience was confirmed by Brian Chesky himself, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, during the app's launch event in Los Angeles, United States.
“Come visit me in my hometown and discover one of my favorite places in the world. We'll dance, laugh, and celebrate the beautiful things in life. It will be an unforgettable night, I promise!” Karol G wrote in the Airbnb description of the experience.
The experience is listed as: Enjoy with Karol G on a rooftop in Medellín and says it will be “coming soon.” “I met her in Medellín,” Chesky said.
In the platform's announcement , Karol G appears as a "host" , saying that she likes bandeja paisa, "Hello! Since I was a little girl, my father passed on his love for music to me and lit a flame in me that has been with me ever since.
What fulfills me most is being able to speak out for all the Latinas in the world. I'm so excited to meet you all. I love you with all my heart!" reads the post on the platform, which has been revamped since Tuesday.
New application Airbnb has reimagined nearly every part of the app, including:
Explore tab: A brand-new homepage to discover accommodations in popular destinations, experiences that fit your schedule, and services around the world.
Trips tab: An advanced travel itinerary with a timeline of your trip, details about your accommodations, and the services and experiences you booked.

Messages: A revamped messaging platform that lets you share photos and videos, and make integrated payments to personalize your services.
Profile: Airbnb's new profile design lets you share the places you've traveled with Airbnb and see the people you've met along the way. Airbnb profiles also highlight the more than 200 million guests and hosts around the world who have completed the identity verification process.
