FIFA, the organizer of the World Cup, explained that Visa cardholders who register for the Visa Preferential Lottery will have the opportunity to access the first phase of ticket sales for the North American World Cup.
The governing body for global football federations emphasized that this will be the first opportunity for fans to secure their spot at the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Those interested in attending the 2026 World Cup must create a FIFA ID at FIFA.com/tickets and register their interest . Upon completing this step, they will receive notifications about ticket on-sale dates and details of the purchasing process.
Registration for the Visa Preferred Lottery will open at 11:00 ET (17:00 CET) on Wednesday, September 10 and close at 11:00 ET (17:00 CET) on Friday, September 19.
According to CNN, "a lottery will determine who among all those eligible can access tickets early."
FIFA clarified that the Visa Preferential Draw is subject to the Official Rules of the Visa Preferential Draw, available at FIFA.com/tickets. Participants must be over 18 years of age, and no payment is required to register or win.

- The timing of fans' registration for the Visa Preferred Lottery does not affect their odds of being selected.
- Following a random selection process, winners will be notified by email starting September 29. They will be assigned a date and time to purchase tickets (subject to availability).
- The time slot allocation period will begin on October 1. Being selected in the lottery does not guarantee availability of tickets for the assigned time slot.
- Once sales begin, individual match tickets will be offered for all 104 matches, as well as venue- and team-specific tickets.

According to FIFA, group stage tickets will begin selling for $60 (240,000 Colombian pesos). However, the most exclusive tickets for the tournament final will cost up to $6,730 (26,920,000 Colombian pesos).
New phases of ticket sales will open in the coming months. FIFA noted that those who are unable to participate in the Visa Preferential Lottery, are not selected as winners, or wish to purchase more tickets will be able to do so in subsequent sales phases.
These are the next phases for ticket sales Additional ticket sales phases will begin next October and will extend until the tournament final, which will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026:
- Phase 2: Early ticket drawing scheduled for October 27-31. Similar to Phase 1, it will include a registration period followed by a random selection process. Winners will receive specific ticket purchase times (subject to availability) between mid-November and early December.
- Phase 3: A random selection draw will begin shortly after the final World Cup draw. In this phase, fans will be able to request tickets for specific matches once the majority of the group stage matches have been determined.
- Finally, closer to the tournament, the remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
