The Venados and their urgency to win on their territory

Venados FC's Thursday night draw against Morelia had some positive aspects, and also some that require immediate improvement.

Juan de Dios Ibarra, who led the Venado team in the absence of coach Nacho Castro (suspended), emphasized that "the team has not lost in the last three matches, the team has given its all, it has fought for the institution, the players are recognized," and added that "despite not winning, we have known how to come back, to achieve, we hope that in the next game the football work will be seen and we can start getting better results."

The Venados drew 2-2 against Ates in their match on Matchday 6 of the 2025 Apertura of the Liga de Expansión. It wasn't quite what was expected, as although they earned a point, they were within a point of losing, only for Morelia to miss a penalty in stoppage time.

With the two received, the deer have 17 in six games, an unenviable amount.

The assistant coach said, "We can't afford to concede this many goals. We've talked about it and practiced set pieces. We have tall players, but they're putting too much pressure on us. It happened to us last game, it happened again now. These are lapses that shouldn't happen." He added, "The team needs to settle defensively; that's what the coach wants: to be solid down low."

Iglesias said the head coach is happy with the team, but lamented that "it was built to fight for first place, and that hasn't been reflected, but we trust in the guys, that little by little we'll get the idea. The draw doesn't feel that important to us; we salvaged it at the last minute with the penalty, but we have to win at home."
