The Pumas defend their sixth place in the rankings against Wales, and Contepomi makes another change.

Felipe Contepomi announced the list of 23 players to face the match and once again delivered a message: The Pumas can be configured in different ways, show other possible faces and surprise with changes of roles, always with the recipe that is balanced by rest and club schedules.
To face Wales in the first of the three matches with which the National Team will close the schedule, the coach again confirmed some players as his core group, while alternating on an increasingly broad base.
Roles also change: Marcos Kremer leaves the back row to form the second row with Guido Petti and Santiago Carreras will not be the fly-half despite the absence of Tomás Albornoz , as he will play instead of Juan Cruz Mallía , who waits on the bench.
Felipe Contepomi closes the year for Los Pumas with a tour in the United Kingdom. That not only explains why another possible midfield pairing will take the field in Cardiff : Simón Benítez Cruz and Gerónimo Prisciantelli are the third alternative to the high-performing Gonzalo García - Albornoz and Gonzalo Bertranou - Carreras.
The changes against Wales will showcase a versatility previously displayed, but which Contepomi seems to be making a constant. When Mallía comes on, he can play as a fullback, fly-half, or even center. The rotations between the backs could offer different options during the match.
The same applies to the second and third row: without Pedro Rubiolo or Franco Molina among those called up, Kremer will play alongside Petti, and in that way, Juan Martín González will wear the number 7 jersey that the player from Entre Ríos usually uses, along with Pablo Matera and Joaquin Oviedo .

Kremer's last time in that position was 10 games ago, last year at Eden Park in the 42-10 defeat to the All Blacks. On that occasion, Kremer started alongside Rubiolo and played the entire match.
The remaining changes reflect the immediate situation: the way the players performed in the last training session and earned them one of the jerseys numbered 1 through 15. In the front row, Pedro Delgado will be the tighthead prop, while Thomas Gallo will start on the bench. The same applies to the backs: Bautista Delguy won the battle against Rodrigo Isgró from Mendoza.
Of the three matches, after Wales, Los Pumas will face Scotland and then England . The team must win two to secure sixth place in the World Rugby ranking and thus be a seeded team in the group stage of the 2027 World Cup .
However, it has been 10 years since it has been able to secure two-thirds of the window and if the streak is not interrupted, other results must come together in order for it to be included in one of the pots in the Australia 2027 draw.
"We understand history, we don't deny it, but we do have the opportunity to do something different from here on out. For us, it's more about how we can continue to grow as a team, and if that leads us to two or three wins, excellent," Contepomi summarized in a press conference.
The Pumas will play three matches in the United Kingdom: Wales, Scotland and England. The Pumas will line up with Santiago Carreras; Bautista Delguy, Justo Piccardo, Santiago Chocobares, Mateo Carreras; Gerónimo Prisciantelli, Simón Benítez Cruz; Joaquín Oviedo, Juan Martín González, Pablo Matera; Marcos Kremer, Guido Petti; Pedro Delgado, Julián Montoya, Mayco Vivas.
