Sinaloa reported 13 homicides on Friday, the highest number nationwide.


CULIACÁN, Sinaloa (apro).- The day of violence closed yesterday with 13 intentional homicides in Sinaloa, including the discovery of dismembered bodies inside coolers and containers in two incidents in Navolato and Culiacán, placing the state as the entity with the highest number of murders nationwide, according to data from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
According to federal statistics, Sinaloa was the state with the highest number of murders on July 4th. Of the 70 homicides reported nationwide, Sinaloa was ahead of Guerrero, which had 7, and Michoacán and Sonora, which each had 6.
The violence that continues to leave deaths from the clash between Chapitos and Mayos has left the Culiacán and Navolato area with nine of the 13 homicides, five of them in the state capital.
Sinaloa has experienced an even greater surge in these crimes since last May, and the number of intentional homicides surged in June, with more than 200, the highest figure even nationally and one of the highest in Sinaloa since 2011.
