MEXICO CITY (apro).- The Joint Committees on Government and Human Rights held their second appearance of the candidates for the National Citizen Council of the National Person Search System.

The hearings began on July 30, and the candidates' proposals were heard, as well as the lines of work they would promote if they reached the Council.

At the beginning of the hearings, the president of the Government Commission, Lilia Margarita Valdez Martínez, asserted that the families of missing persons have great moral authority to tell them what to do and what not to do in this matter.

For her part, Morena Senator Olga Patricia Sosa Ruíz spoke of the importance of those who make up the National Citizen Council being guided by ethical values, contributing to the forging of agreements with different visions, and fostering coordination with state and local search organizations.

During the first appearance, 19 candidates participated, including Miriam Jaqueline Palmero Rosas, who explained that she is a searching mother because her daughter disappeared five years ago, and that she is now defending children and adolescents who have been revictimized or disappeared.

He also maintained that it is possible to work as a team between institutions and families to build solutions, especially when the children are minors.

For his part, that same day, Emanuel Adrián Jiménez García, registered in the process as part of the civil society organizations bloc, emphasized that he works for justice, truth, and memory; "This is not just my nomination, but a joint effort of the collectives involved in struggle, resistance, and proposal-building."

More than twenty candidates participated in the hearings on Thursday, July 30, and also presented their proposals for improving the work of the National Person Search System.

Silvia María Morales Gómez stated that her work plan proposes the implementation of a Permanent National Roundtable for Dialogue with families, periodic public hearings, territorial consultation mechanisms, direct communication platforms, as well as a program to strengthen the capacities of families, because they often lack the technical or legal knowledge of the cases.

On the other hand, Ulises Jerónimo Ramos López said that, if elected, he will seek to analyze current laws, regulations, protocols, and actions related to locating people to identify areas of obsolescence and seek to update them. He will also create an application to optimize time and resources, and share necessary information on missing persons, as well as report and denounce problems faced by groups.

This Friday, the hearings conclude, with 138 citizens registered, of whom 44 completed the procedure; 12 people are registered as family members, 11 as representatives of civil organizations, and 21 as specialists.
