Lucas González returned to Pascual Guerrero, a year and a half after leaving the technical directorship of América de Cali, and now heads Deportes Tolima.

His return was auspicious for him and his team, who won 0-1 to secure their place among the top eight in the 2025-II BetPlay League.

América fans weren't unkind to González. As seen in videos circulating on social media, the Bogotá coach received some applause from the Reds' supporters in the western stands at the Pascual stadium.

The match turned out to be very favorable for Tolima, who took advantage of the fact that América seemed to have the lead in the Copa Sudamericana, where they will host Fluminense of Brazil on Tuesday in the first leg of the round of 16.

This was reflected in the scoreboard, and Tolima took the lead from the first half: in the 28th minute, after a series of rebounds, Mauricio González touched the ball back, and on the edge of the box, Juan Pablo Nieto shot without stopping the ball to beat goalkeeper Jorge Soto.
