The 2025 Tour de France continues to advance with increasing intensity in its 112th edition, marked by a thrilling battle for the yellow jersey between the biggest names in the international peloton. After the opening stages, Tadej Pogacar regained the lead in the general classification, in a direct battle with Mathieu Van der Poel, who took first place on the sixth stage .
Stage 8 , which takes place today, Saturday, July 12, presents a much more favorable profile for sprint specialists . The peloton will cover 171 kilometers between Saint-Méen-le-Grand and Laval , on a day that connects the history of the Tour with the cycling tradition of the Boucles de la Mayenne . The stage runs on leg-breaking terrain, although without any major mountainous difficulties, which anticipates a massive finish.

With only one category 4 climb at kilometer 155, the Nuillé-sur-Vicoin (900 meters at 3.8%), this stage is designed to favor sprinters looking for their chance in this type of finish. Although it accumulates 1,700 meters of elevation gain and runs through constantly up and down sections, it doesn't present decisive steps in terms of the overall standings. The finish, in Laval , is designed to decide the victory in a powerful sprint.
