'I'm happy and committed': Alfonso González

With words of emotion and commitment, Alfonso "Ponchito" González was officially introduced as an Atlas reinforcement for the 2025 Apertura tournament . The attacking midfielder, who emerged from the Rojinegra youth system, expressed his gratitude for returning to the team that saw his footballing rise.
“Thank you to everyone who made this possible. I'm forever grateful to be back. I hope to be on the court soon, to be able to represent this institution, for everyone to feel represented. I want to continue growing, improving, and doing important things with this team. Not only me, but my entire family is very happy,” González shared during his presentation.
"Ponchito's" return comes amid institutional uncertainty, following the recent announcement of the club's sale by Grupo Orlegi. However, for the player, that situation didn't stop him from returning : "Given the uncertainty and what we're experiencing, I was very clear about what I wanted. Sooner or later, I was going to return. I feel very happy. I've been a lifelong Red and Black fan. Very proud and deeply committed. I must take on an important role and, above all, make the people feel represented."
González arrives from Rayados de Monterrey , a team with which he completed a full preseason, so he declares himself ready to play against Cruz Azul if coach Gonzalo Pineda so requests.
During the presentation, other reinforcements also spoke, such as Brazilian Gustavo Ferrareis , who emphasized: "From the beginning, I've expressed my desire to be here, to transcend. If we're all on the same path, we'll emerge victorious."
Meanwhile, Spanish defender Robert Pier acknowledged the impact Martín Nervo has left on the central defense , but expressed his readiness to contribute: "I'm here to contribute to the group. I've been picking up the pace. I'm ready for whatever the coach asks of me and always have a good attitude."
