You can now create and share short clips of your favorite Netflix series scenes with 'Moments' - here's how it works

Netflix announced an expansion of 'Moments,' the mobile feature that allows users to save and share highlights from TV shows and movies .
Introduced in 2023, the tool became popular with viral clips such as Merlina Addams' dance routines and the Saja Boys' musical performance in 'K-pop Warriors'.
With this new update, subscribers will not only be able to capture scenes, but also precisely define where each clip begins and ends, creating personalized versions to relive or share.

While watching content on the Netflix mobile app, users can tap the trim button at any moment they want to highlight.
From there, the option to choose the start and end point of the scene is enabled. Once saved, the clip is stored in the "My Netflix" tab, where you can replay it or send it to others.
When you share a Moment, an image and a link to the app are automatically generated. The content can only be viewed by those who also have a Netflix account , ensuring the experience remains within the platform.
An experience designed to personalize your viewing Elmar Nubbemeyer, vice president of member product at Netflix, explained that the intention is to “give members the ability to celebrate and share their favorite stories while creating an experience that feels unique and personal.”
He added that this feature is part of a broader effort to adapt the Netflix experience to mobile devices. Current tests include a vertical video feed with entertainment clips and an AI-powered search that helps users plan what to watch.
“At its core, this feature is about giving members the ability to celebrate and share their favorite stories while creating an experience that feels unique and personal. We’re also testing other use-case innovations on mobile, which we first announced in May, like our vertical video feed for watching clips of your favorite entertainment on the go, and an AI-powered search feature that’s helpful for planning what to watch next. This is just the beginning of a more dynamic Netflix experience, with features and designs intentionally built for mobile,” said Nubbemeyer.

The launch of this update coincides with the release of the second part of season 2 of 'Merlina,' one of the most popular titles in the Netflix catalog.
With this, the company seeks to boost fan enthusiasm by allowing them to save and share iconic moments from the series in real time, thereby expanding engagement with its most popular content.
