Salesforce agrees to acquire Convergence.ai to strengthen its AI agent business

Salesforce has announced an agreement to acquire Convergence.ai to strengthen its capabilities in AI agents, software capable of autonomously executing tasks and workflows. Following the acquisition, the multinational expects the new company's team and technology to play a central role in advancing Agentforce, a key pillar of Salesforce's AI strategy as it strives to deliver AI that truly transforms the way work is done.

The same sources, who did not disclose the value of the transaction, which is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal year 2026, indicate that Convergence's talent will contribute to advancing Salesforce's AI roadmap, driving innovation in advanced research, task automation, and industry-specific solutions. This will allow Salesforce customers to deploy more adaptive and capable AI agents that increase productivity and reduce manual work .

Adam Evans, executive vice president and general manager of Salesforce AI Platform , said, "The next wave of customer engagement and employee productivity will be powered by highly capable AI agents that can navigate the complexities of today's digital work."

The same executive explains that his group "looks to a future where Agentforce can empower our customers with AI agents that don't just follow instructions, but actually perceive, reason, and adapt to the complexities of modern digital workflows . Imagine AI assistants that can intuitively navigate ever-changing interfaces and handle intricate tasks with a new level of human-like resilience and ingenuity; that's the kind of change we're eager to explore."

Marvin Purtorab, CEO and co-founder of Convergence, believes that "the future of business automation is not limited to individual, scheduled tasks, but lies in end-to-end, decision-driven workflows where multiple agents collaborate and tasks are seamlessly handed off."
