Alleged assailant lynched in El Nopalito, Puebla; accomplice survives (Video)

PUEBLA, Pue. (apro).- On the border between Puebla and Cuautlancingo, residents of the area known as El Nopalito lynched and beat a person who had allegedly robbed a tortilla factory.
Another of the alleged criminals was also detained by the residents, who also set fire to the motorcycle they were riding.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon and evening, when a group of neighbors chased and captured the two men who had overpowered employees of a tortilla factory and detonated weapons to rob the business.
Both men were repeatedly beaten by residents who claimed to be fed up with the criminals and the lack of security in the area. One of them was stripped and dragged through several streets until he was tied to a post where he died, while the other survived the attack and was handed over to the police.
The Puebla Public Security Secretariat issued a statement regretting these events and urging the public not to take justice into their own hands.
He also stated that the agencies at all three levels of government acted in accordance with the Protocol for Action in Cases of Attempted Lynching, prioritizing the protection of people's physical integrity and the preservation of public order.
"Authorities from all three levels of government emphasize that taking justice into their own hands is not the way forward and urge citizens to trust the institutions responsible for security and the administration of justice," the statement states.
