They denounced irregularities and "judicial savagery" in the arrest of two activists for the attack on José Luis Espert's house.

The arrests of activists Alesia Abaigar and Eva Mieri, accused of participating in the attack on the home of Congressman José Luis Espert , sparked a strong reaction within the opposition political spectrum. Union for the Homeland denounced serious irregularities in the procedure and warned that the detention was arbitrary, motivated by alleged judicial persecution.
STOP POLITICAL PERSECUTION. Together with national legislators and political leaders from different parties, we support the families and lawyers of arbitrarily detained militants. We demand the immediate release of

The meeting was led by family members, lawyers, and political figures. Among them, the rector of the National University of La Matanza, Diego Molea , harshly questioned the judicial action. "What are they accusing us of? Of throwing dog feces and papers? This shouldn't even be a violation," he said.
Molea also criticized the decision to have the case heard in the San Isidro Federal Court. "Aren't there more relevant cases, like drug trafficking? Is this a priority?" he asked. He then took aim directly at Abaigar's detention procedure. "They took her to Ezeiza, incommunicado. She's a yoga teacher, she has an autoimmune disease. This is barbaric," he emphasized.
Also speaking during the presentation was the official's mother, Eva Peitravallo . She was detained along with her daughter and an ex-partner for having the blue identification card of the vehicle involved in the incident. "I was released after 72 hours. My daughter wasn't. She was chained, handcuffed to the vehicle. She has LAM, a disease that caused lymphatic drainage and was on the verge of respiratory collapse," she said.
Peitravallo stated that her daughter was transferred to the court for medical tests after her lawyer, Daniel Llermanos , requested her release for health reasons. "The tests came back clear, but her doctors say she's not fit to remain in prison. She needs medication that can't be found there," he explained.
Mieri's lawyer, Bienvenido Rodríguez Basalo , also called for her release and questioned the use of pretrial detention . "There is no risk of flight or possibility of hindering the case. Why are they being detained? In Argentina, pretrial detention is no longer the exception, it's the rule," he warned.
Legislators, family members, and leaders of the Left Front , such as Myriam Bregman and Nicolás del Caño , were present at the conference. All agreed that the arrests were excessive and that the use of pretrial detention is becoming a tool of political punishment. The defense is preparing new appeals while criticism of José Luis Espert and Javier Milei's handling of the case grows.
