The President of Congress will present an overview of the legislative session at a forum organized by EL TIEMPO and the Senate.

Senate President Efraín Cepeda will lead the "Congress is the Way" forum today at the Hilton Hotel in Bogotá. This event, organized by EL TIEMPO, will feature the main achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from his administration during the 2024/2025 legislative period.
The event will open at 10 a.m. and will be led by Andrés Mompotes, CEO of the publishing house. Along with Cepeda, he will address topics such as the independence of Congress from the Executive Branch, political control exercised by the corporation, the impact of legislative decisions made under his leadership, the balance of the legislative agenda—which included the approval of 159 bills —and the Senate's position on initiatives promoted by President Gustavo Petro.

At 10:30 a.m., the panel "Congressional Board of Directors: Management Assessment and Democratic Challenges" will begin, also moderated by Mompotes. Cepeda will be joined by Senators Lorena Ríos (Colombia Justa Libres), Alirio Barrera (Centro Democrático), and, in a pre-recorded intervention, Paola Holguín (from the same party). The debate will focus on the political management of a fragmented corporation, the relationship with the national government, and advances in legislative transparency and efficiency.
Later, the Secretary General of the Senate, Diego Alejandro González, will present his summary of his administrative and legislative administration. In an interview with EL TIEMPO's editor-in-chief, Ernesto Cortés, González will explain his office's role in regulatory management, document systematization, and legal support for Congress. The talk will emphasize his role during the referendum vote.

The Senate's administrative director, Astrid Salamanca, will speak at 11:30 a.m. in a segment on institutional management and accountability. Speaking with editor Jhon Torres, Salamanca will explain the legislature's most significant achievements, the internal control mechanisms implemented, and the role of administrative management in the transparent use of public resources.
The forum will close with a series of questions addressed to Cepeda, González, and Salamanca, which will offer reflections on the challenges Congress will face in the final year of the four-year term. The forum will be broadcast on all digital platforms of EL TIEMPO and the Senate of the Republic.
