The People's Party (PP) will support Espinosa at the presentation of his think tank.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo's People's Party (PP) is attempting to seize the initiative and offer an alternative with concrete proposals to Pedro Sánchez's government. This is the terrain in which former Vox leader Iván Espinosa de los Monteros is operating. He has created the Atenea Foundation, a think tank with which he aims to return to the forefront with political, economic, and social proposals to battle the left. The PP is positive about this new project by the former MP and former Vox spokesperson, which is why the PP will be present at the Atenea presentation this Thursday. Specifically, the party's number two, Miguel Tellado, will be attending.
Yesterday, PP deputy secretary Alma Ezcurra was responsible for addressing the PP and announcing Tellado's presence at Thursday's meeting. Ezcurra emphasized that the former Vox leader brings "proposals to solve problems." "That's why we wish him the best of luck in this endeavor," said Ezcurra, who joked about Santiago Abascal's party: "Vox has become too small for him." The PP leader avoided specifying whether there will be any kind of sustained alliance between the PP and Atenea, although contact appears to have already taken place, based on what Espinosa de los Monteros himself has publicly revealed. In any case, sources close to the former Vox leader have always dismissed the possibility of him returning to the political front as a PP recruit and have limited themselves to saying that he could play an important role as a link between the Popular Party and his former party.
Read alsoWhat is certain is that relations between the Popular Party and Espinosa de los Monteros appear much more stable than those between the former spokesperson for the far-right party and his former party. Espinosa de los Monteros himself has stated that he has not had any further contact with Santiago Abascal's party recently, as his departure was the result of a deterioration in relations due to strategic disagreements with the far-right party leader.
The PP is now focused on designing a roadmap with proposals for reaching government. In fact, this weekend the PP will hold a summit in Murcia with Feijóo and the regional barons to address issues such as housing, regional financing, security, and immigration. This summit will develop general lines of work that will culminate in concrete proposals. The PP is clear that the idea is to reach government with a well-designed plan that excites citizens and can be translated into the repeal, modification, or creation of more than a hundred laws.
Some of these rules have already been outlined and are aimed at protecting institutions such as the Prosecutor's Office and the Constitutional Court.
