The JCE makes updated registry data available to the public

The Central Electoral Board ( JCE ) has made available to the public a digital platform where updated data and statistics from the Dominican civil registry can be accessed.
This is the National Civil Registry System Observatory (Onarec), a website where citizens can consult the number of registrations for vital events such as births, marriages, divorces, deaths, and immigration status.
This project is designed to provide relevant information in the academic field to carry out demographic , social and political studies.
It will also serve public institutions in the design of public policies, social planning, and informed decision-making.
It will be useful for civil society organizations to monitor civil rights and identity issues.
Román Jáquez Liranzo , president of the JCE , explained its benefits at a launch event at the institution's headquarters, along with party representatives, academic figures, and members of the press.

He asserted that analyzing these reports is crucial for monitoring population data , which would allow for a better understanding of population dynamics and assist in the appropriate planning of public policies.
"It provides detailed vital statistics and updated reports , ensuring that the information is timely and relevant, essential for formulating evidence-based public policies in areas such as health, education, social development, and others," he explained.
On the same website, users can request additional information services beyond those available .
The JCE member noted that only birth certificates registered with that entity are presented, so the underreporting of people who do not declare the births of their children, for example, is not included.
The lawyer emphasized the value of these measures in contributing to a culture of open data .
"We are committed to strengthening the culture of open data and vital statistics . We believe that accessible public information is a fundamental tool for democracy and development. Based on this, the JCE , through its Plenary Session, approved the creation of ONAREC in November 2024, an initiative and formal proposal by full member Dr. Dolores Altagracia Fernández Sánchez," stated Jáquez.
