Salta elections: La Libertad Avanza upsets with 35% in the capital, but the ruling party takes the victory.

The legislative elections in the province of Salta are now officially in, thanks to the implementation of the electronic ballot , which speeds up the counting process. Thus, shortly after the polls closed, it was announced that La Libertad Avanza (LLA) pulled off a stunning victory, securing 35% of the vote in the provincial capital, putting them ahead in the results.

This election will renew 30 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, 12 in the Senate , 121 council members, and 232 municipal delegates. The election will be held in 19 of the 23 departments that make up the province. Twelve of these departments will renew senators, and eleven will renew deputies.

La Libertad Avanza took first place, with 35.04% of the total votes, with 100% of the polling stations counted. Second place went to the Alliance for the Unity of Salta residents, Governor Gustavo Sáenz 's list, which reached 30.57% , and third place went to the Justicialist Front of Salta, which reached 6.53% . These results are from the capital of Salta, where almost half of the eligible voters are registered.

Unlike the central region, the ruling party won in the province's interior. For example, in General Güemes, where there are more than 42,000 voters, Sáenz's list garnered 32.95% of the vote, while La Libertad Avanza came in fourth with 13.54 %, behind the Vamos Salta Front (28.24 %) and the Justicialist Front ( 14.57 %).

In concrete terms of power, the ruling party strengthened its influence, going from holding nine Senate seats to 11 of the 12 up for grabs . They also retained their 20 seats in the House of Representatives. The Kirchner party and Juntos (formerly Juntos por el Cambio) have lost considerable influence in Salta, having practically failed to retain their seats, with nine now held by La Libertad Avanza.

While La Libertad Avanza was the big surprise of the Salta elections, the reality is that its strength was concentrated in the provincial capital. In the province's interior, they only managed third place, while Sánez's ticket leads in almost every district. This means that while they surprised with a victory in the most important area of the province, it wasn't enough for the Violets to re-sign the provincial map.

Meanwhile, in the ruling party's bunker, celebrations began for this "resounding" result, which has 92% of the province's senators under Sáenz's wing, who praised the work they did to maintain legislative strength.
