Peronism and the left demanded the "immediate release" of those accused of the escrache against José Luis Espert.

At a press conference in the Chamber of Deputies, supported by legislators and leaders of Peronism and the left, the lawyers and relatives of those allegedly involved in the escrache at José Luis Espert's house demanded the release of those detained and questioned federal judge Sandra Arroyo Salgado and the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich , about the magnitude of the raids and the preventive detentions.
“The charge is for littering dog feces and papers at Espert's house. It could be filed as a misdemeanor in the Criminal Court for littering a sidewalk. This cannot happen in a democratic country where the rule of law prevails ,” stated attorney Diego Molea. “We demand the immediate release of those arrested. We will appeal to all possible courts,” added the rector of UNLZ and former member of the Council of the Judiciary.
For the public shaming at Espert's home, Alesia Abaigar, a Buenos Aires City official, has been detained for a week and was transferred to the Ezeiza prison. Eva Pietravello, her mother, and Daniel Protti were released 72 hours later. Meanwhile, Eva Mieri, a councilwoman and official in Quilmes, Candelaria Montes Cató, Aldana Muzzio, and Iván Díaz Bianchi were arrested this Wednesday.
“ Does the congressman who talks about jail or a bullet, about Kirchnerism's coffin, or who insults the UCA feel intimidated?” Molea asked. Espert had called Florencia Kirchner “the daughter of a great whore” during a presentation at the UCA. “A judge decided to transform the accusation into an alleged crime against public order. We are concerned about the excessive punitiveness of establishing preventive detention as a rule,” agreed Bienvenido Rodríguez Vasalo, president of the Buenos Aires Bar Association.

The families of the detainees then spoke. The press conference was held on the third floor of the Chamber of Deputies, in the offices of Germán Martínez, head of the Union for the Homeland bloc. Lawmakers and leaders from all sectors of Peronism attended: Representatives Máximo Kirchner, Paula Penacca, Cecilia Moreau, Carlos Castagneto, Lorena Pokoik, Eduardo Valdés, and Mónica Macha; Senators Juliana Di Tullio, Wado de Pedro, and Alicia Kirchner, among others; and leaders such as Juan Grabois and Martín Sabbatella. Also present were left-wing figures such as Myriam Bregman, Nicolás Del Caño, Vilma Ripoll, and Cristian Castillo.

“My daughter has been detained for seven days. A large number of police officers raided my house at night. They put me in a police car in handcuffs. The level of violence, sadism, and cruelty was shocking ,” denounced Eva Pietravello, Abaigar's mother, warning that she has an autoimmune disease that could be complicated by the conditions of detention.
Legislators, mayors, and Peronist leaders described the pretrial detentions as an "absolute institutional grave" and spoke of a "police state that tramples on basic rights" and of a "judicial mafia" when questioning the arrests. Representatives Paula Penacca, Florencia Carignano, and Roxana Monzón had heckled Espert in the chamber (calling him a "coward," "a coward," and a "psychopath") during the discussion with Libertarian Juliana Santillán before the session adjourned.
