LIBRA: Judge María Servini abandoned the case investigating President Javier Milei.

The $LIBRA case, which investigates an alleged cryptocurrency scam promoted by President Javier Milei and involves several members of his administration, has taken a new turn and is about to change hands. Judge María Servini declared herself incompetent, so federal judge Ariel Lijo referred the case to magistrate Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi .
"Given the evidentiary measures developed by the Federal Prosecutor, I believe the situation has changed and there is a commonality of evidence and of accused persons, which, in order to achieve a better administration of justice and avoid a waste of jurisdiction, requires the joint processing of both cases," Lijo stated.
The reason Lijo chose Martínez de Giorgi as his replacement is because his court is investigating a similar case, in which Karina Milei was accused of charging for meetings with her brother. Now, the judge must decide whether to accept the cryptocurrency case or not. Previously, Martínez de Giorgi rejected the connection between the two cases, arguing that they should be investigated separately. Despite the change of judge, the case is expected to remain unchanged, as prosecutor Eduardo Taiano will continue to lead the investigation.
Initially, the case could have been referred to the court headed by Sandra Arrollo Salgado , who suggested to Servini that the case should be investigated under her jurisdiction because it occurred at the Quinta de Olivos. However, the judge dismissed this request and retained the case until now.
In addition to the Milei brothers, the case includes Hayden Mark Davis and Julian Peh , accused of creating and launching the $LIBRA cryptocurrency; Sergio Morales , former advisor to the National Securities Commission; and Mauricio Novelli and Manuel Terrones Godoy , organizers of the Tech Forum event.
In parallel, the Chamber of Deputies is conducting an independent investigation through a commission created specifically to follow the case. Chaired by Representative Maximiliano Ferraro, the investigative commission sent a questionnaire to Javier Milei seeking clarification of his responsibility in promoting the cryptocurrency, but received no response. Likewise, the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, was summoned to testify before the group of legislators.
