Javier Milei attacked the PRO, accused it of covering for Cristina and called Lospennato a "liar."

President Javier Milei responded strongly to criticism from the Macri administration and the pro-dialogue sectors regarding the collapse of the Clean Sheet in the Senate. He spoke of a "media operation" installed by the PRO (Progressive Party) to force the proposal through when the votes for its approval weren't guaranteed, while accusing National Representative Silvia Lospennato, who promoted the proposal in Congress, of being a "liar."
"The votes weren't there; it was a media operation tainted by yellow politics," Milei warned, explaining the legislative defeat suffered by the ruling party in the Upper House, where the attempt to approve the Clean Record bill promoted by the Executive branch itself failed after two senators from Misiones , who are partners with the ruling party, ended up voting against it.
In this context, Milei also responded to those who accused him of favoring Cristina Kirchner, who was convicted on appeal in the Vialidad case.
"Those who covered for Cristina Fernández de Kirchner were the same yellows, via (Miguel Ángel) Pichetto , who later became the PRO's vice-presidential candidate," the President asserted, recalling that the PRO has been in power in the city government for 17 years and was at the head of the national executive branch for four years.
Amid the electoral climate for the upcoming Buenos Aires elections on May 18, Milei also took a harsh view of Lospennato, one of the promoters of Ficha Limpia (Clean File), and accused her of "openly lying" for blaming the ruling party for the session's failure, when the votes weren't guaranteed.
Speaking at the Latam Economic Forum 2025, Milei stated that "the corrupt State Party won a battle, but not the war" and anticipated that she will persist with the project "until we finally kick the corrupt people out of the way."
Previously, presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni had come out in full force to attack the Macri administration after denying an agreement with the Misiones residents to prevent the law's approval.
"The PRO (Project for Prosecutor's Office) tried for weeks to establish that we wanted this to be discussed; they were speculating about who knows what over an electoral issue. Now that the project has fallen through due to their own incompetence, they're coming out with unfounded accusations against us ," he declared.
In this regard, the spokesperson said that the La Libertad Avanza bloc had asked the senators to commit to signing a document to gather the 37 signatures necessary to approve the bill. But, according to Adorni, the PRO representatives "rushed things without waiting for the document to be signed and went down to the chamber to vote."
Adorni also went after Lospennato, his main opponent in the Buenos Aires election, demanding that she publicly apologize to the President for having suggested that the government sought to "sabotage the vote."
"He wrongly and maliciously claimed that the national government transferred ATN to the province of Misiones more than any other province, which is absolutely false, and the data is in fact public," Adorni added.
