Feijóo recovers Alberto Nadal, Rajoy's former high-ranking official, as head of the PP's Economy

The portfolio previously held by Juan Bravo, who will become Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, will be transferred to the former Secretary of State for Budgets under the last Popular Party government. He will join the party's routine starting in September.
The PP continues to shape the party's new structure with the prospect of facing a possible upcoming election. In this context, one of the key areas that PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo is seeking to strengthen is the economy. Therefore, he has decided to hire Alberto Nadal , a former senior official under Mariano Rajoy, as the PP's new Deputy Secretary of Economy, an area previously headed by Juan Bravo , who will now become the party's new Deputy Secretary of Finance, Housing, and Infrastructure. Furthermore, Nadal will add to his Economic responsibilities those related to Sustainable Development, an area that was previously in the hands of former Madrid regional minister Paloma Martín, who is leaving the party's steering committee.
All these changes will be approved this weekend at the 21st National Congress of the PP, which is being held at Ifema (Madrid), where Feijóo will be re-elected party president and candidate for Prime Minister.
Thus, Bravo , as the new Deputy Secretary of Finance, Housing and Infrastructure of the PP, will be the one who will bring together "the responsibilities held in the Government of Spain by the First Vice President and Minister of Finance, as well as Ministers Óscar Puente, Isabel Rodríguez and Óscar López," as the PP clarified in the statement in which it announced the new addition and the planned rotation for the party's economic areas.
The PP also clarified yesterday that Nadal won't return to the match until next September, once he completes his work obligations in the United States.
Feijóo is therefore drawing on the old guard that cemented the PP's last successful era with Mariano Rajoy's two governments. When the Galician president arrived at the Moncloa Palace in 2011, he appointed Nadal as Secretary of State for Energy , where he promoted a reform of the electricity system. Later, during his second term, from 2016 to 2018, he served as Secretary of State for Budget and Expenditure .
Although the announcements will be made this weekend in the National Congress, the final allocation of powers will be finalized in a National Executive Committee , which will take place once the political year has begun, the party added.
In addition, Feijóo has confirmed in their posts the Vice Secretary for Regional and Municipal Policy, Elías Bendodo ; the Vice Secretary for Culture and Sport, and spokesperson, Borja Semper ; and the Vice Secretary for Mobilization and Digital Challenge, Noelia Núñez . The spokesperson in the Senate, Alicia García , will also continue. The President; the General Secretary, Miguel Tellado ; the Vice Secretary for Sectoral Coordination, Alma Ezcurra ; the Vice Secretary for Institutional Regeneration, Cuca Gamarra ; and the Vice Secretaries for Health and Social Policy, Carmen Fúnez , and for Education and Equality, Jaime De los Santos will join the PP Steering Committee.
