Feijóo appoints Pérez Llorca as candidate for President of the Valencian Generalitat

The president of the People's Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, announced this Tuesday that Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca, spokesperson for the PP in the Valencian Parliament, will be his party's candidate to replace Carlos Mazón as president of the Valencian Government.
In a statement, the PP indicated that the PPCV will formally communicate this decision to Vox - whose support is essential for the investiture - as well as to the other groups with representation in the Valencian Parliament.
The text details that Feijóo held a final telephone conversation with Pérez Llorca on Tuesday morning, in which he informed him of his designation as candidate for the investiture session to be convened in the coming days.
All of this, the text states, is to "give stability" to the Valencian Community as soon as possible.
The PP's general secretary, Miguel Tellado, has telephoned the provincial presidents to inform them of the decision of the party's national leadership, which has had the unanimous support of the three, the statement says.
At a press conference in Congress, the Popular Party spokesperson in the Lower House, Ester Muñoz, stated that the PP is "very calm and very happy" that Valencia, as soon as possible, can have a government that will continue with the reconstruction.
Regarding the contacts with Vox and the notification of Pérez Llorca's election, Muñoz explained that the PP was informed internally first, then the citizens, and that the next step will be to inform the party led by Santiago Abascal.
"If we have to negotiate with Vox, then the normal and logical thing to do is to call Vox to negotiate with them," said Muñoz, who urged them to "rest assured" that the call will come.
Regarding possible concessions to Vox, which holds the key to Pérez Llorca's nomination going ahead, Muñoz said that nothing different will happen from what has been seen in the regional government negotiations carried out by Vox and the PP.
The limits, he added, have always been the same and "very clear", the law and the Constitution, and that is what can be expected from any negotiation in Valencia with Vox.
At a breakfast briefing, before Pérez Llorca's name was revealed—which was the most likely candidate—Tellado stated that the PP and Vox would "put the defense of the general interest first" and that the "reasonable" thing to do in a context where there is "a stable government" is to reach an investiture agreement that avoids elections.
"I expect vision, not electoral calculations. If there is vision, if the People's Party and Vox defend the general interest, it will be very easy to reach an agreement," he added.
