The US government reports a 12% drop in border crossing attempts by undocumented migrants.

WASHINGTON (apro). – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of the Donald Trump administration announced that the rate of undocumented immigrants crossing into the United States fell by 12% last June, which it described as a record-breaking statistic.
“In June, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) had the lowest number of encounters at the border with individuals attempting to enter as undocumented immigrants nationwide in U.S. history,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noe.
The Trump cabinet member emphasizes that during the sixth month of 2025, Border Patrol agents recorded 25,243 encounters with people attempting to enter the United States as undocumented immigrants.
"This is a 12% reduction from the previous record set by President Trump," the Secretary of Homeland Security emphasized.
The decline in attempted crossings by undocumented immigrants reflects Trump's tactics to treat as criminals those who attempt to enter the United States without documents to live and work.
“The numbers don't lie. Under the leadership of President Trump and CBP, records have been broken and we now have the most secure border,” Noem emphasized when unveiling the statistics for last June.
The sporadic and massive raids against undocumented immigrants in all 50 states have had the effect Trump hoped for: instilling fear in people with irregular status in their presence and employment, as well as treating them as criminals.
The Trump administration has been authorized by the Supreme Court of Justice to disregard due process on immigration issues, which means it can detain anyone and, if they are undocumented immigrants, even deport them to a third country.
On Tuesday, Trump inaugurated an immigration detention center in Florida with a capacity to hold up to 5,000 people. It is surrounded by swamps infested with alligators. The president even ironically alluded to the fact that the reptiles would take care of immigrants who try to escape.
“The world is hearing our message: the border is closed to lawbreakers. Under President Trump, our Border Patrol agents are once again empowered to do their job, to secure the border and protect the American people,” Noem concluded.
