Mother's Day Weather in Colombia | Alerts to departments where heavy rains are forecast, according to Ideam

This weekend is Mother's Day in Colombia . Therefore, it's important to prepare for possible rain or downpours that could occur over the weekend.
The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) published its latest report on the weather forecasts for Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11.
A gradual increase in rainfall is expected in much of the country these days, especially in some areas such as the Pacific and the Amazon.

In light of the recent emergencies caused by the rain, authorities recommend monitoring channels operated by entities such as IDEAM and the National Risk Management Unit (UNGRD).
Weather for Saturday, May 10 For Saturday, May 10, the day before Mother's Day, significant rain and abundant cloudiness are expected, according to Ideam , in the following regions:
- Pacific
- Caribbean
- Andean
- Orinoquia (west and east)
- Specific areas of the Amazon.

The areas where heavy rainfall is expected are in the following departments:
- Cordova
- Bolivar
- Chocó
- Cauca Valley
- Nariño
- Antioquia
- North Santander
- Santander
- Caldas
- Risaralda
- Boyacá
- Arauca
- Casanare
- Caquetá
- Putumayo

On the other hand, " conditions in the San Andrés Archipelago will be predominantly dry, although sporadic drizzle could occur in the surrounding sea," according to IDEAM.
The lucky places where less intense rains are expected are: Sucre, Magdalena, La Guajira, Cesar, Atlántico, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Huila, Meta, Vichada, Guaviare, Amazonas, Vaupés and Guainía

For Mother's Day, the rains could intensify . Rainfall is expected, concentrated in "the maritime and continental Pacific, the Andean and Orinoco regions, as well as the northern and eastern Amazon and the southern, central, and northeastern Caribbean," according to IDEAM.
Additionally, significant rainfall is expected in the southwestern Caribbean Sea, while mostly dry conditions are expected in much of the San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina archipelagos.

Showers could occur in areas of the following departments:
- Central and southern Bolívar
- Magdalena
- La Guajira
- Cease
- Central and southern Chocó
- North and south of Valle del Cauca
- Cauca
- Nariño
- Antioquia
- Santander
- North and west of Boyacá
