Kyle Busch's Brother Kurt Busch Breaks Silence on NASCAR Star’s Death

Kurt Busch is thankful for memories with his younger brother.
The retired NASCAR driver released a touching statement honoring his late brother Kyle Busch, who died last month at age 41 amid ongoing health complications that culminated in pneumonia and sepsis.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes, support, and love for my brother and our family," Kurt, 47, wrote on Instagram June 8 alongside sweet photos of the Busch family over the years. "Finding a silver lining, I reflect back on the days Kyle and I raced anything we could get our hands on."
And those priceless memories as brothers started from an early age, Kurt reminisced.
"From big wheels to competing on the biggest stages in motorsports, we were more than just fierce competitors," Kurt highlighted of their nearly two decades of professional race car driving together. "We pushed each other, challenged each other, and learned from each other. Kyle, your passion, determination, and love for your family inspired everyone who knew you."
Indeed, the Busch brothers made NASCAR history for having the most combined wins between them as siblings. In addition, they are the only brothers to both have 30 Cup Series wins individually. Still, Kyle's legacy goes much further than the racetrack for his loved ones.
As Kurt put it, "No trophy, championship, or accomplishment could ever measure the impact you had on my life and on so many others. I will forever be grateful for the memories we made, the lessons you taught me, and the brotherhood we shared."
“My heart is broken, but I know your spirit will always ride with me,” he added. “Rest easy, little brother.”
Kyle died on May 21, one day after he was taken to a hospital in Charlotte, N.C. In a death certificate obtained by Us Weekly, officials said Kyle had faced a "chain of events" for several "days to weeks” prior to his passing.
In the wake of Kyle’s death, his wife Samantha Busch—whom he married in 2010 and shared kids Brexton, 11, and Lennix, 4—said the “love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain.”
"Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people,” she expressed in the June 5 Instagram post. “There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone."
