CUERNAVACA, Morelos (apro).- Armed men stormed into a graduation celebration for a minor in the municipality of Atlatlahucan, Morelos, leaving two people dead—one of them a woman—and two others injured.

According to police sources, the attack occurred Tuesday night in the town of San Miguel Tlaltetelco, in the northeast of the state, where a family was hosting a get-together in the garden of a home.

During the attack, a woman died at the scene. A man was taken alive to a hospital, but died hours later from his injuries. Two other people were injured and taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Images from the party scene circulated on social media. They show people lying on the ground—some dead, others injured—among overturned chairs, food remains, and scattered personal belongings, reflecting the chaos left by the attack.

Atlatlahucan, a municipality currently governed by Agustín Toledano Amaro, who was elected by the "Dignity and Security for All, Let's Go Together" coalition, comprised of the PAN, PRI, PRD, and Progressive Social Networks, is located just over 60 kilometers from Cuernavaca and is part of the region known as Los Altos de Morelos.

Since the end of 2024, this area has seen a sustained increase in violence and insecurity. Residents of the municipality have issued urgent calls to state and federal authorities to strengthen security, even requesting the intervention of the National Guard, due to fears of the presence of organized crime groups.

Members of the Morelos Police, the National Guard, and personnel from the State Attorney General's Office responded to the scene to conduct the necessary investigations.

To date, no authorities have commented on the events, nor have they reported whether anyone has been arrested.
