AMAs 2026: Paula Abdul Reacts to Meghan Markle's Song Shoutout

Paula Abdul is forever a Meghan Markle fan.
In fact, the "Forever Your Girl" singer was royally flushed when the Duchess of Sussex recently used her iconic song while celebrating her and Prince Harry's eighth wedding anniversary on her Instagram Story.
"I was in shock and I was so touched," Paula told E! News at the 2026 American Music Awards on May 25. "I never take anything for granted with my career, I never have. And so, I'm always humbled to have little gems like that appear in my life. It's very touching." (See all the stars on the AMAs red carpet here.)
After seeing the shoutout, Paula hit the repost button on her Instagram Story.
"I just texted her back," Paula added, "saying, 'What beautiful pictures and thank you so much for using my song.'"
Indeed, for Meghan and Harry's wedding milestone, the As Ever founder posted a series of never-before-seen pictures from their May 2019 nuptials, writing, "Eight years ago today."
The couple's kids Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 4, also took part in the celebrations, watching their dad gift their mom with a special cake.
Days earlier, the family marked another milestone: Archie's birthday.
“7 years later,” Meghan shared on Instagram. “Happy birthday to our sweet boy.”
While Meghan and Harry keep much of their family life out of the public eye, the Suits alum has shared insight into her parenting philosophy.
“I’m a mom with kids at that age where they are constantly learning something new," Meghan said in Harper's Bazaar's November 2025 edition. "I watch them face things that feel completely insurmountable every day. But you can remember and say, ‘I know it seems really hard right now, but trust me, that’s going to come so easily soon.’ I can give myself the same grace as a founder. There’s no such thing as perfect. I, too, get to make mistakes.”
